Merrick, NY--Hurricane Helene will likely turn out to be one of the most destructive storms in U.S. history. It has left a wake of destruction through swaths of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. In at least one instance an entire village in North Carolina has disappeared.

The latest confirmed death toll stands at about 190 but there will be more added to the list as hundreds of people remain missing. Large communities are isolated without electricity, clean water and communications.

The federal government has launched a massive multi-tiered effort to bring relief to the stricken areas that includes manpower and aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), 1,000 active-duty soldiers as well as helicopters and other equipment to support the delivery of food, water and other critical commodities.

Local and national relief efforts are already on the ground, but much more is needed. For those wishing to contribute to these relief efforts Centurion has created a vetted list of organizations that will provide relief to those impacted by the devastating storm. We will try to update the list as needed. They include the following:

American Red Cross: redcross.org

Salvation Army: give.helpsalvationarmy.org

Save the Children: savethechildren.org

United Way: support.unitedway.org

World Central Kitchen: donate.wck.org

* Please note these are not endorsements of a specific charity. There are other charities that would welcome your support as well.
