Lighthouse Point, FL--J.R. Dunn Jewelers has purchased a 3.02 carat Old Mine Brilliant diamond characterized by grading technicalities seldom found in antique-style stones. The diamond, which carries GIA Report No. 5232695813, features a U-V color grade and VS2 clarity.

According to a release, the South Florida retailer secured the stone during the Miami Antique Show. While most diamonds cut in the 1800s lack modern precision, this specimen received "Excellent" ratings for both polish and symmetry.
Graduate gemologist Mia Chalik, who facilitated the purchase, indicated that the stone’s material and "make" met high internal standards for cut quality, as stated in the news release.
The company's president, Sean Dunn, emphasized the importance of the diamond's physical impact over its certification details, according to the report. The jeweler intends to feature the stone in a custom design by Robert Pelliccia, the firm's resident designer.
