The appointment is part of a broader leadership reshuffle within the luxury conglomerate, which has seen several of Bernard Arnault’s five children move into senior roles. According to the report, Babin takes over from Frédéric Arnault, who was recently named CEO of Loro Piana, LVMH’s fast-growing Italian cashmere brand.
Reuters noted that Babin will assume the new role effective April 1, 2025. He will continue to serve as CEO of Bulgari, a position he has held for the past 12 years. Before joining Bulgari, Babin led the watchmaker TAG Heuer, also under LVMH, for 12 years.
The watches division at LVMH has faced challenges in recent months, with sales in the watches and jewelry segment declining by 2% last year. The report stated that demand for high-end timepieces has slowed as inflation has affected consumer spending on luxury goods.
