Raleigh, NC--Bailey’s Fine Jewelry has acquired Morrison Smith Jewelers, a Charlotte-based retailer in operation for 70 years, The Charlotte Observer reported. The store, located at 705 Providence Road, is working with Bailey’s during the transition.

According to the report, the Bailey and Smith families had a long-standing relationship before the sale. Charles Smith, father of former Morrison Smith president Chuck Smith, mentored Clyde Bailey, father of current Bailey’s president Trey Bailey.

“It was extremely important to us that we found a company that aligned with our family values and dedication to exceptional customer service,” Chuck Smith said, as quoted in The Charlotte Observer.

Trey Bailey stated that the company plans to maintain Morrison Smith’s existing services, including repairs and custom design, and will expand offerings to include a wider selection of diamonds, engagement rings, and designer jewelry.

Bailey’s Fine Jewelry, founded in 1948, has locations in Raleigh, Rocky Mount, Cary and Greenville, North Carolina, and a studio in Los Angeles.
