Merrick, NY—“Applied Gemmology for Jewellery Designers” is the title of the forthcoming online live training talks that address the challenges in choosing stones for jewelry beyond aesthetics, fashion, and budget. The course, taught by Rui Galopim de Carvalho, FGA DGA, includes four one-hour sessions: “Durability and Stability in Gemstones,” “Preventing Damage,” “The Quantity Factor,” and “Planning a Diamond Ring.” This workshop was designed for jewelry designers, artists, and bespoke jewelers, but its entry-level approach is it quite accessible to most viewers. The live format of the sessions in a small online meeting room will enable participants to engage with the tutor and colleagues in a more dynamic and relaxed environment.

Each program will be held at two different times to allow for global participation across time zones. Each session is 75 minutes long and limited to 20 participants via Zoom, for a total of five hours of instruction. Dates are Jan 18, 20, 25, 27. American participants are recommended to join Group 2 sessions, which will run at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time (1 p.m. CST, noon MST, 11 a.m. PST.) Price for the course is €150.00 (approx. $169 USD) including VAT.
