According to a news report, Susan Harrison, the owner of Jewelry Emporium, retired on Saturday and said goodbye to her loyal clientele and staff. She will continue to fulfill special orders and repairs through early March.

Harrison started her career at Jewelry Emporium as a store manager in 1983, just as the store opened, and she graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in psychology. She bought the business from the original owners in 1990 and became known as "Diamond Sue" for her expertise in diamonds and gemstones.

Per the report, Harrison said she enjoyed creating unique pieces for her customers, many of whom became friends over the years. She also supported local artists by showcasing their work at her store.

Harrison added in the report that she decided to retire after facing challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, online competition, and rising rent costs. She plans to spend more time with her family and travel.

The jeweler thanked her customers for their support and trust over the decades. She said she would miss them and hoped they would cherish their jewelry as much as she did making them.
