Jewelry Supervisor Sentenced for $1.7 Million Precious Metals Theft December 10, 2024 (0 comments)
Boston, MA--A Rhode Island jewelry company supervisor was sentenced for stealing over $1.7 million in precious metals, according to Boston.com. Benjamin Preacher, 54, of North Attleboro, pleaded guilty to charges of interstate transportation of stolen goods and engaging in unlawful monetary transactions.

Judge Angel Kelley sentenced Preacher to 59 days in prison, two years of supervised release, including 10 months of home confinement, and 200 hours of community service. Preacher must also forfeit $1,267,093, as reported by the outlet.
Preacher worked at the company from 2018 to 2024, overseeing jewelry production and security. According to U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy’s office, Preacher stole scrap precious metals from the facility and transported them to Massachusetts to sell.
“Preacher used his position overseeing the production and security of high-end jewelry to steal scrap precious metals from the company’s facility in Rhode Island,” Levy’s office stated.
Preacher’s legal representation told Boston.com the sentence reflected a “full, fair, and individualized assessment” and confirmed Preacher is taking responsibility for his actions.
