Cliffside Park, NJ--John D’Amore, second generation owner of historic D’Amore Jewelers, announced his retirement after 52 years in the jewelry business.

A former art teacher, John D’Amore began working at his parents’ jewelry store more than over 52 years ago. What started as a sabbatical from teaching became a passionate career as D’Amore and his mother curated their inventory and began to specialize in designer jewelry and luxury watches.

Over the years, the store grew into an expansive showroom with an expanded selection of designer jewels that included Bulgari, Marco Bicego and Roberto Coin.

D’Amore said his fondest memories are of hosting big events featuring top designers, exclusive fashions, the fine hospitality.

“We’ve always catered to being humble and making sure the customer was well taken care of. It’s been a pleasure to serve everyone, from people seeking giftware, to high end watches and nice pieces of jewelry,” D’Amore said. “I want to express my appreciation to the community for allowing a schoolteacher from a middle class family to curate these special valuables for them.”

To mark the occasion, D’Amore Jewelers will host a retirement sale with savings storewide of up to 70% off.

Meanwhile, D’Amore says he looks forward to volunteering with local animal welfare organizations, and spending time with friends and family, including his daughters and grandchildren.

My husband and I bought many items from your store.  It was D"Amore-Careri when we first bought my engagement ring in 1962.  Then we went on to purchase charms, bracelets, rings and more.  Always great quality items and we’re very pleased with all our purchases.

Hi John,

It was 1979 and I was a senior at West Point and I met Lois in 1979 and then you in 1980 through Lois Brent.  I purchased the engagement ring from you and proposed to Lois in 1980 and we were married in May 1981.  Here we are 45 years later.  I don’t believe we got to cross paths since then.  But I have fond memories of that time.  I had scraped up every penny I could to make that ring special and you truly delivered.

On a whim I tried to search your name and am glad I found this site You may never see my response but know we thank you for a ring that was blessed in St. Joes Church and has held us close together ever since.

The ring was stolen at one point several years back and was a heart breaker for us.  However,  the memory and the bond it solidified will never fade.

Wishing you all the best in retirement

Love from Lois and Bob Kuper
