In a report by Dayton Daily News, owner Michael Karaman cited increased space needs for Rolex, the store's largest brand, as the primary reason for growth. The addition will match the existing building's architecture.

The report added that four new jobs will be created, bringing the Kettering location's workforce to 37. James Free employs 69 total across its Kettering and Montgomery, Cincinnati stores.

Lasada, Inc., Karaman's real estate company and James Free's landlord, bought the 0.72-acre expansion site for $900,000 in 2022, the report stated. The project follows a 2015 parking expansion onto adjacent residential land.

Construction is underway, with steel framing now visible, the report noted.

James Free has operated at this location since 1988.
