Sethi Couture To Debut Heritage Collection In Las Vegas

San Francisco, CA—Sethi Couture announces the launch of its newest collection, Heritage, for the 2015 Luxury and Couture Shows in Las Vegas.

Known for delicate and vintage-inspired designs using natural color diamonds and traditional rose, old mine, and briolette cuts, Sethi Couture’s design duo Pratima and Prerna Sethi were inspired by a passage to India for the latest collection. On a two-week journey to celebrate their grandmother’s 90th birthday, they were touched by the vividness of the country and the details of the courtyard home where their father was raised. Memories of this trip, and finding beauty in the flaws and imperfections of their family’s century-old courtyard home inspired Pratima and Prerna to create this collection honoring their heritage: its handcrafted cedar wood, gold inlay motifs across ceilings and walls, and the exceptional craftsmanship that kept the strength of this bungalow for hundreds of years reminded them of the influence their parents’ past had on their design aesthetic.

Heirlooms from their grandmother dictated the newest objects part of the collection: lapel pins. OId mine and rose cut diamond ring designs highlight the artistry of the carvings found in the wood, and the imperfections brought on by the age of the residence influenced the selection of one-of-a-kind stones. These new pieces evoke a romance of the ancient architecture of the forts and palaces they visited in Madhya Pradesh.

Kirk Kara Dual Celebration To Be Held At Luxury By JCK

Los Angeles—Kirk Kara will host a special double celebration on Thursday, May 28, in Booth 1120 at Luxury by JCK. The celebration is in honor of both the brand’s 125th anniversary and its record eighth JCK Jewelers' Choice Award.

The JCK Jewelers' Choice Award is a retailer-determined design competition, and Kirk Kara has won every year since the awards were established. The JCA challenges designers and manufacturers to create innovative and salable pieces and is voted upon by retailers around the country.

Winning again in 2015 is particularly meaningful to Kirk Kara, as it is the family-owned business's 125th anniversary. In 1890 a devoted Armenian craftsman named Bali Karaguezian, Kirk Karaguezian’s grandfather, began creating one-of-a-kind heirloom jewelry pieces inspired by old-world Armenian carvings. Little did Bali know that 125 years later, his legacy would be stronger than ever as the acclaimed Kirk Kara family business reaches new heights in the 21st century. After Bali taught the craft to his son, Artin, the tradition was passed down again to Kirk, and now Kirk's wife, Lucy, and daughters, Angela and Grace, have joined him at the helm of everything from operations to design.

Visit Kirk Kara’s booth, 1120, on Thursday, May 28, to enjoy a sweet treat and raise a glass to eight JCA wins, four generations, and 125 years of Kirk Kara's craftsmanship and artistry.

WR Cobb Debuts New Responsive E-Commerce Platform For Retailers

East Providence, RI—WR Cobb Online will soon release new responsive updates to their long-running e-commerce platform. Cobb’s current platform services a vast range of retailers, from mega-majors in malls across America independent jewelers.

Responsive design provides an optimal viewing experience on a wide range of devices (mobile, tablet, desktop, etc.) Responsive web design involves the process of building a website in such a way that it automatically adapts to the device from which it is being accessed.

The new platform reduces the cost to stores to have a single site developed that adapts to devices of all sizes. It was possible, but more costly, before the new program was developed.

Mobile devices surpassed desktop PCs as the dominant global Internet platform in 2013. Sites without responsive design will be obsolete in the not-too-distant fugure. Additionally, says WR Cobb, Google’s recent algorithm shifts favor responsive websites over non-responsive sites, making it increasingly important for businesses to adapt their websites in order to keep up with the growing rate of smartphone and tablet users.

WR Cobb Online will be giving demonstrations of the new platform in booth PC-830 in the Plumb Club pavilion at the JCK Show at Mandalay Bay.
