Burlington, MA--For 55 years, the Daytona 24 has been a landmark in motorsport endurance racing. Long's Jewelers wrote in a blog post that it shares a deep connection with this event, rooted in a longstanding partnership with Rolex, the creators of the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona.

This timepiece, named after the race and supported by Rolex since the 1960s, remains a customer favorite at Long's, which has been affiliated with Rolex for over 50 years.

Launched in 1963, the Cosmograph Daytona transcends its original watchmaking purpose, becoming a symbol of motorsport endurance. Its design reflects the relationship between Rolex and racing, featuring a dial with contrasting sub-dials and a bezel with a tachymetric scale for calculating speeds.

The post notes that the heart of the Daytona, the calibre 4131, is a Rolex-developed chronograph movement representing an advancement from its predecessor, the 4130. Unveiled in 2023, it features innovations such as the Chronergy escapement and Paraflex shock absorbers, alongside a distinctive decoration visible through a sapphire case back in some models.

Rolex's Oysterflex bracelet, available in 18 kt gold versions with a Cerachrom bezel, combines metal's durability with elastomer's comfort. It features an Oysterlock safety clasp and a Rolex Glidelock extension system.

The Daytona has been endorsed by motorsport icons, including Paul Newman and Sir Jackie Stewart, for its departure from the norm and commitment to excellence. Long's Jewelers, an Official Rolex Jeweler, encourages customers to experience Daytona's storied history and find a Rolex that suits their lifestyle, with expert guidance ensuring a lasting choice.
