According to a report by WJHG/WECP, owner Manu Samtani founded the business in 1977 after relocating from Jamaica to Florida's Gulf Coast. The store initially sold clothing before expanding into Mexican jewelry such as abalone and turquoise, and later shifting its focus to gold jewelry.

Samtani said his approach has remained steady over time. "Day at a time. I don't plan anything for long-term," he said, as reported by the outlet, adding that community support played a key role in the store's longevity.

His son, Mohit Samtani, has now joined as co-owner after working in the business since childhood. "My first full day at work, I was in fourth grade," he said, as per the report.

The recent remodel was designed to enhance the in-store experience as online shopping becomes more common. Mohit Samtani said the store emphasizes products tied to significant life events, including engagement rings and watches.

Manu Samtani described his son's involvement as a step toward the company's future, expressing confidence in the next generation's leadership.

The renovation is now complete, with plans to expand the business's online presence as a next step.
