Mikimoto Opens Soaring New York Flagship Modeled On Ginza Store March 17, 2021 (0 comments)
New York, NY—Famed pearl jeweler Mikimoto has opened a soaring new two-story flagship store at 730 Fifth Avenue (between 56th and 57th Streets) in New York City.
The new 3,500 square-foot store opens just two doors away from the jeweler’s previous space, but it will offer both significantly more retail space and private VIP client rooms.
Not surprisingly, the store’s design is inspired by the sea, as well as the jeweler’s Japanese heritage, expressed in handcrafted Japanese kimono textiles on the walls. The new store borrows its concepts from the brand’s main flagship in Tokyo’s famed Ginza shopping district.
In the New York store showcases will be signature high jewelry pieces, including some that have never been seen before in the United States.
The jeweler will feature its classic core collections as well as some luxury non-jewelry items like picture frames, pens, and scarves, as well as a special collection dedicated to New York City and a capsule collection done in collaboration with fashion brand Comme des Garçons.
“As a Japanese luxury jewelry brand, we are proud to be opening a flagship boutique in this new premium location on New York City’s iconic Fifth Avenue,” said Yasuhiko Hashimoto, CEO of Mikimoto America, in a statement. “We have a positive outlook surrounding the future of physical retail in New York City, especially relating to the luxury jewelry sector. There is no replacing the art of trying on in-person exquisite Mikimoto jewelry. We look forward to welcoming clients to our gorgeous boutique.”
