Natural Diamond Council Releases Report Revealing Diamond Trends February 06, 2025 (0 comments)

New York, NY--The Natural Diamond Council has released its latest report titled, “Natural Diamond Trends: A 2024 Overview. The report contains information on consumer preferences for several diamond traits in 2024 and uses this information to determine diamond trends.

The data was compiled from more than 2,000 specialty retail jewelers in the United States by Tenoris, a data analytics company. Among the key highlights of the report:

  • The 4Cs: The report breaks down the 4Cs and the purchasing trends behind each measure of the grading scale, looking at the most popular diamond shapes, color trends as well as the most popular clarity grades and carat weights.  
    • Round Diamonds remain the mainstay of the market, accounting for 82% of the center stones in natural diamond jewelry in 2024. At the same time, more consumers are choosing to express their individuality through fancy shapes, particularly elongated silhouettes like Oval diamonds, which extend the look and elegance of the hand.  
    • VS-clarity diamonds are gaining in popularity, whereas SI (Slightly Included) diamonds have long been the sweet spot for the American consumer.  
    • Consumers are gradually moving out of the 1-carat comfort zone, opting for larger diamonds for center stones. 
  • Bridal Diamond Jewelry Trends of 2024: 33% of all natural diamond jewelry sales fall within the bridal category with brides and brides-to-be investing in heirloom pieces to mark the significance of their wedding day. The report discusses the most common engagement ring sizes and styles along with celebrity influence behind what is trending in the bridal category  
  • Natural Diamond Shopping Trends of 2024: Consumers still prize natural diamonds for their unique and timeless status as an emotional gift to celebrate life’s milestones. The report dives into seasonality of sales, price trends since 2020, and the power of the customer looking to self-purchase. The average price of diamond jewelry sold for Valentine’s Day grew by  2.7%  to $2,066, with diamond rings as the preferred choice.
