"We continue to have productive conversations with the City of Dallas," Saks said in a statement. The company noted the store will stay open while the process continues into 2026.

In March, Saks said the closure of the flagship location was final, with a planned shutdown on March 31. Later that month, the company announced the store would stay open through the 2025 holiday season.

Dallas city manager Kimberly Tolbert welcomed the extension, saying Neiman Marcus played a central role in the city's retail identity and that the city will continue working with Saks leadership.

Per the report, Saks has discussed possible new formats with city officials, including luxury retail, a curated art exhibition, a fashion and event center, and a fashion design and manufacturing incubator.

CBS News Texas reported that Neiman Marcus received a notice from its landlord regarding the termination of its occupancy earlier this year. The report stated that the store operates under a 99-year ground lease signed nearly a century ago with landowner C.C. Slaughter. The lease, which never exceeded $400 per month, expired in January and was extended until March 31.
