Quick-Thinking Jeweler Saves Family During Mall Gang Rumble May 30, 2021 (0 comments)
Ross Township, PA—A fight that broke out at a shopping mall in suburban Pittsburgh, PA could have turned deadly, save for the quick-thinking action of a nearby jeweler. Image: Interior of Noah Gabriel & Co. Jewelers, where a family fled to safety during a potential gunfight.
A group of about five or six teenagers were engaged in a fight at the Ross Park Mall. A shopper, Amy Hoback, and her son Cannon, who had just left the J. Crew store in the mall told KDKA-TV they initially thought the altercation was just a group of teenage boys acting silly until they realized the gang was beating up on one teen in particular—and they saw a gun fall to the floor.
It was then that the employees of Noah Gabriel & Co. Jewelers came to the rescue by sheltering the Hoback family, including their husband and father.
Cannon told KDKA, “I turned around I just heard everyone screaming ‘gun’ and then I shuffled over to the side because I didn’t know what to do, and then I started running toward the jewelry store, and my parents were just sitting there and I said, ‘we got to go inside the jewelry store.'”
Noah Gabriel employees quickly rushed the Hoback family inside, locked the store, then ushered the family and store staff to a safe room at the back of the store, double-locking everyone down safely.
Noah Gabriel & Co. was founded by jeweler Christopher Sarich (below with his wife and son), who began his career as a sales associate at a local jewelry chain. After rising to become the head of the merchandising and marketing departments there, his desire to own his own store grew and, in 2016 with the support of his wife and family, he opened Noah Gabriel & Co.
