Retail News: Borsheims To Offer Diamonds Inscribed With Warren Buffett’s Signature April 30, 2014 (0 comments)
Omaha, NE—Berkshire Hathaway shareholders will have a rare opportunity to buy a diamond with chairman Warren Buffett’s signature laser-inscribed inside. The stones, a limited edition available only at Borsheims during Berkshire Hathaway shareholders’ weekend May 2-4, are available in various sizes up to 5 carats, and are laser-inscribed with Buffett’s signature, the Borsheims logo, and a unique identifying number. Prices range from $5,000 to more than $200,000.
More than two dozen Buffet-signed diamonds are loose and ready to be mounted as earrings, pendants, or rings. Sizes range from 0.75 ct. up to 5.0 cts., in both round and square shapes. Each diamond will come with a limited edition pamphlet describing its special nature and a loupe so the buyer can see the inscription and show it to others. Shareholders can even purchase the signed stones from Buffett himself, as he will again man the counter at Borsheims on Sunday, May 4.
Also available are some of the Buffett-signed diamonds already set into diamond pendant necklaces. These will be on sale only at the CenturyLink Center during Saturday’s Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting. Available at the Borsheims booth, the 0.50-ct. necklace would normally retail for $2,500, but shareholders can take home the pendant for $1,750.
The diamonds are a part of Borsheims’ Signature Diamond collection. Borsheims Signature Diamonds have a star cut into the culet of the diamond, giving the diamond additional fire and brilliance. All Borsheims Signature Diamonds originate in Canada’s Northwest Territory, where miners and environmentalists have worked together to determine the most environmentally friendly way to extract the diamonds found there. Each is laser-inscribed with a one-of-a-kind identification number, the Borsheims name, and a maple leaf, guaranteeing its Canadian origin. Buyers can trace their diamond back to its Canadian mine.
