RETAILER RECOMMENDATIONS DRIVE CENTURION 2012 ON-STAGE TALENT November 22, 2011 (0 comments)
Merrick, NY—Along with world-renowned exhibitors and top-level education, the Centurion Jewelry Show annually offers some very creative and enjoyable entertainment. This year, the Centurion staff was aided by attendees to choose the entertainment, all with some connection to the industry. They include: Ryan Star, Boogie Knights, Delta Cappella, and Jennie Devoe, pictured left.
Ryan Star is the son of Dan Kulchinsky and brother of Lauren Kulchinsy Levison of Mayfair Jewelers, Long Island, NY.
“We feel that Ryan shares the artistic spirit for his music that we have for our jewelry. Growing up with our family in the industry, he has a true appreciation for what we do. After spending the past year touring with Bon Jovi, Train, and the Goo Goo Dolls, we are so excited to have him take the time to support us and Centurion, said his sister Lauren.
Ryan Star is part of Mayfair Jewelers' Kulchinsky family.
Singing group Boogie Knights, below, was recommended by Calabasas, CA jeweler Brent Polacheck.
“I used to see them in college,” he said. “They are a wonderful band, they play music that everyone knows and that brings back childhood memories. Their music ends up motivating people of all ages to want to get up and dance.”
Originally formed as a Halloween gag in Los Angeles, CA, the group offers polyester, Afros, and bell bottoms, heralded as “the greatest disco revival show in the world.”
The 12-man a cappella group Delta Cappella was founded and is managed by Jay Mednikow of Mednikow Jewelers in Memphis, TN. He also sings in the group (and is shown top row, center, in the photo below.)
Jeweler Jay Mednikow, back row center (gray jacket) will be examining gems by day and singing by night at Centurion 2012.
Says Jay, “It’s a chance for me to show a side of me that few people know about. The jewelry industry is very personal, and to be really effective, we shouldn’t be ‘all business.’ When people see me on stage, they will know that I’m not all business and know that they can take those sorts of liberties too. We sing contemporary music, pop and rock music, complete with a beat boxer for the drum sounds, and it’s a very entertaining show. We are in constant demand for gigs all over the Memphis area.”
Jennie Devoe (pictured at top of article) is another act found through Centurion attendee connections. She was recommended by Reis Nichols in Indianapolis, IN.
“We love Jennie Devoe’s soulful sound and playful performance on stage,” said Reis Nichols director of marketing Lori Roberts. “She is a local Indiana singer/songwriter whose original songs are about love and emotion—the perfect complement to our industry.”
Devoe is one of the Midwest’s most highly respected and well-known independent singer songwriters and continues to acquire fans all over the United States and beyond.
In addition, Centurion also welcomes Phat Strat, below, who will perform at the Saturday night opening dinner, sponsored by BRIDES magazine. This all-female electric string quartet takes a great song, creates an original arrangement, produces a club recording, adds guitar pedals, and throws in some incredible chops and performance flair to showcase a distinctly original music product.
The 2012 Show begins Centurion’s second decade with a move to Scottsdale, AZ. Show dates are January 28 (arrival) through February 1, 2012 (departure).
