New York, NY--Rolex is preparing to open its new office and retail tower at 665 Fifth Ave. this fall, marking an uncommon move by a luxury brand into office ownership and leasing, according to CoStar. The 30-story, 165,000-square-foot building will include a multilevel Rolex store, office space for the company, and offices for other tenants.

The building was designed by architect David Chipperfield and draws inspiration from the fluted bezel used on many Rolex watches. The report said Angeles Wealth Management signed a lease for 7,850 square feet and will move its New York office from the Seagram Building at 375 Park Ave. Tenants are also expected to have access to a restaurant and event space.
The report stated that Rolex demolished the 12-story structure that previously occupied the site, a property it had owned since the 1970s as its U.S. headquarters. The company said it reviewed renovation options before deciding to build a new tower in its place.
The report added that the all-electric project is designed to meet high environmental standards and will include a double-skin facade, rainwater and gray water recycling, terraces at setbacks, and floor plates intended to bring natural light deeper into the building. Pavarini McGovern is serving as construction manager.
