New York, NY--Saks Global said that it will keep open three luxury department stores that had previously been included in a planned round of closures. The locations are Saks Fifth Avenue stores in Sarasota, Florida, and Palm Desert, California, and the Neiman Marcus store in White Plains, New York.

According to a report by WWD, the company had earlier said 20 Saks Fifth Avenue stores and four Neiman Marcus stores would close this spring. With the reversal, 15 Saks Fifth Avenue stores are now expected to remain open, while Neiman Marcus will continue operating 33 stores.

The report said Saks Global is still closing 57 Saks Off 5th stores, five Neiman Marcus Last Call clearance centers and the Horchow catalogue business.

A Saks Global spokeswoman said the decision followed discussions with landlords and a further review of the business, as reported by WWD. The company said it has no plans at this time to revisit other previously announced closures.

The report added that the three stores are located in malls owned by Simon Property Group. Saks Global filed for Chapter 11 on January 13 and is using the restructuring process to address leases, debt and contracts while continuing to operate stores it considers healthy.
