The store offers on-site repairs, a rarity in the jewelry industry, according to owner Tom Dixon. “We’ve got the best of the best downstairs,” Dixon said, referencing the skilled repair team. He also showcased a recreated brooch from the 1950s that won a national Diamonds International Award, illustrating the company’s legacy.
Charlie Dixon, the company’s president and Tom’s son, is preparing to take over leadership. He attributed the store’s success to its family-oriented approach and long-serving staff. “It’s family,” he said, noting that some employees have been with the business for decades.
TMJ4 reported that Schwanke-Kasten helps customers mark milestones like engagements and promotions. “Now they get to wear this piece of jewelry and feel like they have some connection to the past,” Charlie said.
Tom emphasized the trust built with customers over decades. “I’ve been doing this for close to 40 years. You really do build strong relationships,” he said.
Neilson summed up the company’s philosophy: “Make sure we leave everything better than we found it.” After 125 years, Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers remains committed to that principle.
