Schwarzschild Jewelers to Close Short Pump Town Center Store After Two Decades December 04, 2025 (0 comments)
Richmond, VA--Schwarzschild Jewelers will close its Short Pump Town Center location in mid-January. According to a report by Richmond BizSense, the move ends more than 20 years at the mall and reduces the retailer's Richmond-area footprint to two stores, in Carytown and Midlothian.
Kiley Schiffman Storrs, COO of parent company Schiffman's Jewelry, said the closure follows two years of planning. She noted that sales at Short Pump were solid but the company chose to focus on its other Richmond communities.
Schwarzschild opened at Short Pump in 2004. The company, founded in Richmond in the 1890s, was acquired by Greensboro-based Schiffman's Jewelry a few years later. Schiffman's also owns Shreve & Co. and Sylvan's.
Per the report, the Short Pump closure comes after the Carytown store's 2023 relocation to Carytown Exchange. Schwarzschild also operates in Midlothian and Charlottesville.
A sale is underway at the Short Pump store to reduce inventory. The location is on the mall's ground level near Dillard's and across from the Lego store.
