Simone Biles, Jonathan Owens Get Engaged With Custom Ring From Houston Jeweler February 16, 2022 (0 comments)
Houston, TX—The world’s most decorated gymnast is ready to do backflips of joy. On Valentine’s Day, Olympic superstar and Texas native Simone Biles said “yes” to Jonathan Owens, safety for the Houston Texans football team and her partner of two years. The two connected in March 2020 just as the pandemic lockdowns began, and went public with their relationship that summer.
Owens got down on one knee and proposed with a custom-designed oval diamond engagement ring created by jeweler Zo Frost of Bellaire, TX. According to the Houston Chronicle, Frost has a large professional athlete clientele and has become a go-to jeweler for many NFL players, including designing a chain for Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback Joe Burrow in 2020.
The ring features a solo oval diamond on a diamond band. Frost created a video of Biles’s engagement ring on his Instagram page, which she shared on her own page.
Frost told Page Six the center stone is a three-carat F VVS2, set in a halo, but a close-up view of the ring shows four prongs and doesn’t appear to have a halo. But Mike Fried, CEO of The Diamond Pro, told US magazine he estimates the oval is at least eight carats set on a white gold or platinum band with at least 35 more diamonds. He pegged the center stone cost at $300,000.
