New York, NY--Jewelers know all too well that younger consumers have a shifting definition of luxury, including lower affinity for heritage brands, a preference to spend for memorable experiences over costly items like jewelry, and a desire to avoid conspicuous consumption.
But it doesn’t mean they don’t value luxury or that they eschew all heritage brands or that they'll never wear expensive jewelry and watches. A recent article on Engage: Millennials blog shows the top 10 brands both Millennials and their younger siblings in Gen-Z (total age range, 13-34) aspire to own. On the list: a blend of affordable luxury brands like Michael Kors and Apple as well as classic heritage brands like Mercedes, Gucci, and Rolex:
