New York, NY--Sotheby's has partnered with WatchCheck, a watch servicing platform launched last year, to simplify repairs for over 38,000 watch models. According to Hodinkee, the partnership aims to make servicing more accessible to customers, especially those without easy access to repair centers.

WatchCheck allows users to upload details about their watch, including photos and a description of the issue. After providing their address, they receive an estimate and a shipping kit with a pre-labeled box and padded internal packaging. The watch is then sent to Stoll & Co., a repair facility in Dayton, Ohio, for evaluation and servicing.

Stoll & Co. offers a range of services, from battery replacements to complex restorations, and is an authorized repair center for several major brands. The company has over 40 years of experience and employs 40 trained watchmakers. After inspection, customers receive a final price, which they can approve or decline. Once completed, the watch is returned with a receipt and warranty information.

As Hodinkee noted, while Sotheby’s is known for vintage watches, many modern and neo-vintage models make up a large portion of its sales. The partnership with WatchCheck aims to address the needs of customers who may lack connections with watchmakers or have purchased pre-owned pieces from Sotheby’s.
