Suspect in Brooklyn Jewelry Store Shooting Incident Apprehended by Authorities February 20, 2023 (0 comments)

New York, NY--A Brooklyn jewelry store's attempted heist turned violent when a man opened fire on employees.

The suspect, reportedly identified as 45-year-old Joseph Gonzalez, entered A&M Jewelry in Sunset Park on February 5, demanding property from a store employee. The employee sustained a graze wound to the torso before Gonzalez fled on foot without taking anything.

The authorities caught Gonzalez on February 15 in the 72nd Precinct in Sunset Park. He faces charges of attempted murder, robbery, burglary, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Per the report, police recovered security camera footage showing the suspect walking into the store with a loaded firearm. He pointed the weapon at the employees before firing and fleeing the scene.

The report noted that the victim was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn and is now in stable condition.
