Following an independent third-party audit, TSC achieved the highest-level certification under the strict set of standards laid out in the RJC’s 2019 Code of Practices. These standards provide a framework for companies to address sustainable and responsible business practices that align with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals adopted by all UN member states.
Certification by the RJC demonstrates an organization's commitment to responsible practices around human rights, social issues, and the environment, in a transparent, accountable manner throughout the jewelry industry from mine to retail. This certification, which requires renewal every three years, is a recognition that the brand’s New York City headquarters, commercial practices and relationships, and international supply chain of artisans, manufacturers and gemstone vendors meet such standards.
Temple St. Clair is the first independent brand of its scale to achieve RJC certification. It joins the world’s leading international brands such as Tiffany, Cartier, and Bvlgari as certified members of the RJC.
Temple St. Clair has been one of America’s leading women jewelry designers for more than 30 years. Conservation and philanthropy have always been key tenets of the brand’s mission. The RJC certification recognizes the brand’s solid framework to continuously strengthen its responsible and sustainable business practices.
“I would like to congratulate Temple St. Clair on their certification. We work in an industry of beauty and emotions - connecting hearts and minds. Consumers always expect trust when they buy a piece of jewelry to celebrate a significant moment in their lives. In this era of trust and resilience, now more than ever, there is a need for more companies to inspire, take action, and commit towards a journey of purpose, and continuous improvement. RJC supports its members in an integrated approach of best management practices to sustainability. We welcome their leadership and commitment towards responsible business practices," said Iris Van der Veken, executive director of the Responsible Jewellery Council.
“For many years, our consumer has come to expect Temple St. Clair to operate with the highest standards of quality and authenticity. The Responsible Jewelry Council certification process helped us create a framework built to address and further strengthen all areas of our business. I am deeply honored for our company to receive recognition through certification by the RJC. I see it as the only responsible way for our industry to move forward in this very important decade of change,” responded Temple St. Clair, Founder and Creative Director of her eponymous brand.
