THREE TIPS TO MAKE A GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION ONLINE November 28, 2012 (0 comments)

Austin, TX—By now you know it’s essential to actively engage with your audience online, not just have a presence there. So you’ve got a Facebook page, a Twitter feed, and you’ve just signed up for Pinterest. But taking part in the conversation is important to keep word of mouth going, says this blog from WordofMouth.org, an organization that teaches word of mouth marketing. WordofMouth.org offers three simple tips for making a great impression with customers, fans, and even critics online:

1. Let everyone know who you are. By saying “I work for _____ and this is my personal opinion,” your honesty and affiliation will give you more, not less, credibility.

2. Offer to help. Online complaints can be a great opportunity to make a fantastic first impression by offering to fix the problem. If it’s broken, do everything you can to fix it. Everyone will be thrilled to see someone responding and making an honest effort to make it right.

3. Contribute something great. Tips, advice, and support are always welcome and are where you can let your expertise, skills, and experience shine. Offer tips (not sales pitches), give advice, or point users to other helpful sources.
