Merrick, NY—The Centurion team wishes our Indian friends a happy Diwali holiday.
Diwali is the Indian “festival of lights,” that celebrates the triumph of light over dark and good over evil, and the blessings of victory, freedom, and enlightenment. It is the biggest and most important holiday of the year in India, celebrated by many different faiths.
In most of India, Diwali is a five-day celebration that peaks on the third day, but in other places only the main day might be celebrated. This year, that is November 4, when celebrants light candles and clay lamps (called diyas) in their homes and in the streets, and gather together with family and friends for a celebratory feast.
