Although comments are now seen as a higher form of engagement than likes, metrics like shares and views should also be taken into account. Prompting your followers to share your post can ultimately lead to it showing up in more people’s feeds. By using the best creative, users will stop to learn more about the product. Responding to and liking your comments is also important. It shows your audience that you care what they have to say and can prompt followers to leave more responses.

Word of mouth is one of the most tried and true ways of gaining more followers. With the right strategy, the power of personal recommendations can extend into social media. Encourage customers to tag you on Facebook and Instagram wearing jewelry they bought from your store. You can even take it a step further by creating a hashtag that potential customers can search to get inspired. This user generated content can be reposted on your own page. Content that includes actual people can often perform better than some other photos.  These social media blindspots can be holding you back from growing your online following. By boosting social media posts, growing engagement, and encouraging user generated content creation, you could expose your business to potential new customers as well as stay relevant in the minds of your current followers.
