AI Now Answers Search Queries. What Does This Mean For Jewelers? |  September 23, 2024 (0 comments)

Google and other search engines are starting to use Generative AI to answer search queries. This means that more and more, web users won’t need to scroll through the search results and visit a website. They can often now just read the AI-generated summary at the top of the page that Google shows them.

How will this impact jewelers?

I think this can really impact search engine optimization in a lot of ways. If users get what they need from the summary at the top of the SERP, they’ll be less likely to click through to your site.

However, AI will have a hard time replacing searches with more complex terms or buying intent. Most shoppers - especially ones researching expensive jewelry - will always want to do their own research from a variety of websites.

However, Google will undoubtedly eventually start incorporating “recommended products” in their AI search suggestions. Hell, they already do that buy showing you shopping ads based on your search. Imagine that x10.

It will be very interesting to see how search engine AI impacts the online shopping experience going forward.
