The secret is often to simply put words on pages. There really are a lot of advanced SEO techniques. I think good SEO experts are absolute wizards. But the 80/20 rule applies in marketing like it does in sales. There are a couple of things that contribute a ton to your search engine ranking, and then there are some things that help your search engine ranking in smaller dividends. You can make drastic strides in your Google rank by focusing on a couple key things. So when I say to put words on pages, I mean just that - blog. Google isn’t magic. Of all the factors to your site that will contribute to your search engine ranking, the content throughout your website makes one of the biggest impacts. To illustrate this, I pretended as if I were a jeweler looking for some marketing tips for their store. I Googled the phrase “inbound marketing for jewelers”. And guess what? JewelryEcomm.com ranked top three in the search. The cool part? We did no SEO to this page whatsoever. You may be confused, asking “but what’s the magic thing you did to get high up on Google?” But we did nothing. We simply wrote a really good article that got high readership, and also matched well with the right search terms. Our article is about inbound marketing tips for jewelers. When I googled “inbound marketing for jewelers”, we came up as an accurate match. Nothing fancy or complicated at all. By setting aside just an hour a day, a couple days a week, you can start writing articles that are relevant to the terms you want to be found for, and posting them on your site. This, combined with a nice social media distribution plan, can really make an impact on your Google ranking.
