Years ago, when I used to design a website, I would start by designing how the site would look on a desktop computer. The mobile version would be an afterthought.

However, websites today are viewed much more often on mobile devices than desktops (simply because everyone always has a phone on them).

This reality has really changed how web developers have been developing their websites over the past few years. The mobile version of your website is the first priority, and desktop version is second priority.

Obviously your website needs to look and work great on both devices. But there are simply things you can do - for example, like making sure your “phone number” buttons automatically dial the number - to make the user experience on mobile devices the best it can be.

Here is a great guide by Browserstack outlining how to use mobile-first principles in your website.
