Scranton, PA—Famed Olympic skater Adam Rippon just announced his engagement to Jussi-Pekka Kajaala. Rippon, the first openly gay U.S. Olympian, was unable to see Kajaala for much of 2020 due to the pandemic, according to his Instagram post. So when he had an opportunity to go to Finland and be together, the skater jumped at the chance (no pun intended).

The couple’s plans offer jewelers an opportunity to put a focus on men’s wedding band options, with a variety of designs suitable for any couple, gay, straight, traditional or ultra-hip. Here are a few ranging from classic to ultra-modern. Top image: a Forevermark 3mm Squared Band, $695.

A wide (8mm) textured flat yellow gold band from Carlex collection by CrownRing. Price on request.

6.5 mm titanium “Rocked Out” black band with blue sapphires, $1,390, from Benchmark.

11 mm gold men’s wedding band with 0.80 ctw of diamonds. Carlex Collection by CrownRing. Price on request.

Yellow gold ring with 22 channel-set diamonds, approx. 0.22 ctw., $1,595, from Benchmark. Also available with black diamonds for $1,575.
