Hong Kong--The 30th edition of the Rolex China Sea Race is set to begin on April 5, in iconic Victoria Harbour, taking participants on a 565-nautical mile (1,046 km) journey across the South China Sea to Subic Bay in the Philippines. Rolex has supported the biennial race and its organizers, the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC), since 2008.

Marking the 61st anniversary of Asia's oldest blue water race, the event attracts sailors worldwide due to its challenging course and Corinthian spirit. A news release states that with a start in Victoria Harbour, competitors navigate through traditional and modern sea traffic before facing the South China Sea's demanding conditions. The final approach to the Philippines is characterized by lighter winds and the infamous "Luzon hole," which often compresses the fleet.
The most sought-after prize is the Rolex China Sea Race Trophy for the overall winner under IRC time correction, while the first boat to cross the finish line in real time receives the Sunday Telegraph Trophy. A Rolex timepiece will be awarded to the first boat under IRC Overall handicap and first Monohull Line Honours.
Over the years, winning yachts have represented various nations, including Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, Japan, Australia, the UK, and France. The race continues to gain international attention within the yachting community, thanks to Rolex's longstanding support and close associations with renowned yacht clubs and sailing events worldwide.
