Oscar Heyman’s 100th Birthday Party

New York, NY—Oscar Heyman officially celebrated its 100th anniversary October 3 with a cocktail and dinner for employees, family and closest friends at the Harmonie Club. Founded in 1912, by brothers Nathan, Oscar and Harry Heyman, the company is now in its third generation of leadership.

More than 75 guests, including several generations of the Heyman family and all the company’s employees, feted the continued success of the firm. Marvin, Lewis, Tom and Adam Heyman offered remarks, and Adam, a nephew of the founder, read a letter from Mayor Bloomberg, commending the family on its heritage and longevity of the business.

Every 25 years, the firm’s employees have created a magnificent memento to commemorate the Oscar Heyman family and their commitment to quality, craftsmanship and superior customer service. For the 25th anniversary the craftsmen created a 24k gold, silver and bronze standing clock; for the 50th, a bronze plaque; for the 75th, a carved rock crystal depicting a thousand carat diamond.

But for the 100th anniversary, the employees presented the Heymans with a sterling silver tray made in 1945 by Bailey, Banks, and Biddle, one of the oldest American jewelers and silversmiths. The tray, discovered at an antiques show, is lavishly decorated with applied grape leaves and is engraved with the signatures all 32 Oscar Heyman employees, many of whom have been with the company more than 30 years.

Uneek Creates Special Pin To Combat MS

Los Angeles, CA—Uneek Fine Jewelry by Benjamin Javaheri recently teamed up with retailer Vera’s Fine Jewelry in Midlothian, VA, to create a custom pin to help fight MS. The pin, a gem-encrusted shoe, was featured on the invitation and presented at the annual luncheon of the Central Virginia chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Vera’s Fine Jewelry sponsored the lunch, and the shoe pin will be handed down every year to the Society’s annual honoree.

"The director for the MS event came by to pick up the pin. It was so incredible, it brought her to tears,” said owner Vera Caniglia. “When the shoe was presented, what a response! Everyone was overwhelmed and the person who received the award was honored to wear such a beautiful piece that had so much meaning behind it. It will be passed down each year to a new winner. When they wear it, every comment made about it will bring awareness about MS. Thank you Uneek for making this special project happen.”
