Bucherer Debuts Manhattan Collection Inspired by NYC Skyline April 16, 2024 (0 comments)
New York, NY--In a recent interview with Professional Jeweller, Robert Ambord, Bucherer's global director of jewelry, discussed the new Manhattan fine jewelry collection.
This series is inspired by New York City's architectural lines and shimmering skyline. It comprises three sets of colored gemstone creations and two diamond necklaces.
In the interview with Harriet Whitaker, Ambord explained that the Manhattan theme was inspired by a trip to New York City after the Tucson Gem and Jewelry Show.
"We wanted the cut of the different gemstones that we had acquired at the show to mimic the impressive skylines of New York," he said in the interview. "If you have been there, you will be familiar with the image of the different lights peeping between the skyscrapers."
The gemstones used in the collection were sourced at the Tucson show and are intended to highlight the vibrant colors while paying tribute to Manhattan's skyline.
Ambord noted in the interview that Bucherer's comprehensive skills in design, goldsmith techniques, and stone setting at its Lucerne headquarters are evident in this collection. With a history dating back to 1888, Bucherer has developed a network for sourcing distinctive, colorful gemstones, which are often discovered serendipitously through global dealers. The Manhattan Blue, Red, and Yellow ranges feature these gemstones.
Ambord stressed that the pieces are designed for comfort and everyday wear, not just for display. "We didn't create them to sit in a museum, or to be viewed at an exhibition," he explained in the interview. "Our goal is for wearers to feel totally comfortable."
The collection has been well-received, and Bucherer plans to expand it by adding more pieces. Ambord also mentioned in the interview that Bucherer aims to strengthen its international market presence, building on its strong European position.
