Cape Coral Jewelry Store Robbed of More Than $500,000 After Wall Breach January 26, 2026 (0 comments)

Cape Coral, FL--More than $500,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a jewelry store in Cape Coral, after suspects gained access by cutting through a bathroom wall, according to Dangerous Minds.

The robbery took place on January 6 at Tio Jewelers. According to court documents cited in the report, three men stole more than 1,000 pieces of jewelry and two firearms.

The report stated that two suspects entered the store around 4:50 a.m. after cutting a large hole through the bathroom wall of a neighboring vacant unit. The store manager was assaulted and restrained with zip ties. In addition to the store inventory, the suspects took the manager's Breitling watch valued at about $5,500.

A person with remote access to the store's surveillance system witnessed the incident and contacted police. Officers responding to the scene found the manager restrained inside the store, the report noted.

Investigators said the suspects had pried open the adjacent vacant unit shortly after midnight before accessing the jewelry store through the wall, according to the report.

Ivel Sanchez Rivera, 52, identified as the alleged getaway driver, was arrested. As per the report, he has been charged with conspiracy to interfere with commerce by violence, interference with commerce by violence, and using and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. The other two suspects have not been identified.

Police linked Sanchez Rivera to the robbery using a license plate reader, which linked a black Infiniti used in the getaway to him. Investigators also reported that one of the stolen firearms was found in his possession, the report stated.
