Los Angeles, CA—Statement-making earrings, (very!) bold necklaces and some sizable bracelets led the top jewelry trends at Sunday night’s 71stannual Emmy Awards. And the awards themselves delivered some surprises with some widely-expected wins not materializing and newcomers such as British comedy Fleabag making a big sweep.

In jewelry, Jenny McCarthy, one of Fox’s pre-show hosts working the red—or in this case, purple—carpet, kicked off the mega-necklace trend. She capped a frothy baby blue Alexander McQueen dress with a huge silver and crystal necklace. The entire effect was 1950s-prom-queen-meets-1980s-punk, as the dress started sweet on top and ended in a jagged, shredded hem. McCarthy paired the dress with studded high heeled combat boots and two studded black leather biker belts.

Kim Kardashian West’s necklaces got even bigger: she paired two hip-hop style diamond link chains with diamond cross pendant. Actresses Sophie Turner and Viola Davis (above left) went massive but classic: Turner with a diamond collar from Chanel and Davis in layered Forevermark diamond rivière necklaces.

Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus wore massive Irene Neuwirth opal and diamond floral earrings in 18k yellow gold to match her metallic gold gown, while Jameela Jamil and Emilia Clarke both chose huge colorful earrings from David Webb. And Mandy Moore accented her elegant red and pink Brandon Maxwell gown with diamond waterfall earrings from Forevermark.

Not everything was stratospherically expensive, either, which is good news for jewelers. For example, actress Chrishell Hartley (Netflix's Selling Sunset, ABC’s soap All My Children and primetime drama Mistresses) wore a $165 silver Pavé collection ring from Belle Étoile, and comedian, actress, and writer Ashley Nicole Black (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee) wore a $550 silver Pirouette collection bangle by Belle Étoile. Other jeweler-accessible brands on display included Oscar HeymanNorman Silverman DiamondsLe VianHearts On FireForevermarkMémoire, and Marco Bicego.

Here’s a look at who wore what:

Keeping his awards-show wow factor intact, Billy Porter—who won the Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series Emmy for his role in Pose, again turned heads with gender-fluid fashion. The first openly gay actor to win the Lead Actor award, Porter plays Pray Tell, a flamboyant MC in FX’s drama about the AIDS crisis in New York’s LGBTQ ballroom scene of the late 1980s/early 1990s.

Porter’s other history-making red-carpet looks include, in chronological order, his pink cape at the Golden Globes, tuxedo gown at the Oscars, and “uterus dress” at the Tonys. And, of course, Oscar Heyman jewelry.

At the Emmys, Porter wore a shimmering, black and silver disco-inspired pantsuit custom designed by Michael Kors. The bejeweled suit featured flowing, wide-legged pants, an extra-long scarf worn as a tie, and platform shoes. The ensemble was completed with a wide, asymmetrical hat by British (what else?) milliner Stephen Jones and, again, a ring and cufflinks from Oscar Heyman Bros.

As always, platinum jewelry was front and center at the Emmys. Famed celebrity stylist Micaela Erlanger says, “whether it’s a vintage or a modern design, platinum jewelry adds extra glamour and sophistication in order to create an iconic fashion moment.”
