Leominster, MA--Alternative metal jewelry brand, Chris Ploof Designs, announced that its workshop in Central Massachusetts is now fully powered by solar energy. The studio now produces 135% of its electrical energy needs with a 37,000-watt array of solar panels, which is used to create the brand’s mokume gane, Damascus steel, and meteorite materials, as well as the designer jewels of Ploof’s eponymous brand.

Committed to sole authorship and sustainability, the brand creates everything it needs in-house from recycled raw materials. Ploof’s award-winning patterned metals/laminates, his branded displays, and the finished jewelry and accessories are all produced by artisanal blacksmiths who combine historical techniques with a modern engineering.

“We believe strongly in sustainability, limited waste, and sole authorship,” said Chris Ploof, president and founder of Chris Ploof Designs. “We have always ethically sourced the materials and gemstones that we work with, and now, our electricity is fully solar powered, producing enough energy to power our shop and our home, as well as to allow for electrical vehicle charging.”

Fully operational as of April 2022, the solar panels fulfill Ploof’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
