Denver, CO--General Purpose: Responsible for executing a budget and implementing merchandise assortments and strategies to drive profitable sales and productivity, while ensuring product value, quality and styling as directed by the Diamond & Bridal Buyer. The Associate Bridal Buyer is responsible for relationship building, controlling and managing inventory to include placing and following up on vendor orders, maintaining integrity of min/max stock plans, placing special orders, monitoring vendor and individual SKU performance and negotiating payment terms and stock balances. Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists with managing open-to buy for diamond and bridal categories.
  • Prepares automatic replenishments.
  • Prepares stock orders.
  • Assists with stock balancing.
  • Assists with diamond requests.
  • Assists with price negotiations.
  • Manages inventory levels and ensures stores are well-stocked.
  • Maintains relationships with vendors and stays up to date on new product releases and industry news.
  • Collaborates with store management to ensure cohesive and profitable business strategy.
  • Ensures all products meet quality standards.
  • Manages the open-to-buy for product categories.
  • Implements merchandising assortments.
  • Analyzes inventory levels.
  • Coordinates intra­company merchandise transfers and return to vendor activities.
  • Maintains a variety of reports including sales, open to buy, and company metrics.
  • Identifies trends and forecasting.
  • Works with accounting department to ensure credits/aging are applied correctly.
  • Assists in placing special orders and helps sales associates research special requests and orders.
  • Generates end of month reports
  • Initiates return to vendors.
  • Implements directives assigned by the Diamond & Bridal Buyer.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs research on items with lost tags.
  • Assists in retagging merchandise to reflect price changes.
  • Serves as a resource on issues/questions.
  • May participate in sales activities as a resource during special events and holidays.          
  • Participates in the semi-annual inventory process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

 Knowledge, Skill & Ability

  • Knowledge of fine jewelry.
  • Knowledge of the jewelry industry, including trends, pricing, and product lines.
  • Knowledge of merchandising techniques and practices and retail trends.
  • Knowledge of vendors terms and conditions and points of negotiation.     
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, and grammar.    
  • Knowledge of products available and offered by competitors.
  • Knowledge of budgeting techniques associated with the purchasing of merchandise.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish good rapport with vendors, sales advisors, and members of management.
  • Ability to analyze reports and to take appropriate action.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and carry out assignments effectively.
  • Ability to evaluate, research and take necessary corrective action to maximize sales.
  • Ability to work on more than one task at a time.
  • Ability to analyze information, assess situations and arrive at decisions.
  • Ability to exercise attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve.

  • Strong understanding of retail operations, visual merchandising, and customer service.

          Education or Formal Training

  • Associate’s Degree
  • GIA Graduate Diamonds Diploma

 

          Experience

  • Five years’ experience in a purchasing capacity within the jewelry industry.

Working Environment/Physical Activities:

  • Standing, walking, and stooping 25% or more of the time, lifting on occasion 20 pounds or more.  Reaching, handling, fingering when performing sales related duties.
  • Speaking, hearing, and exchanging information of the spoken word is required to successfully perform these duties.
  • Tasks including comparing, computing, composing, copying, compiling, analyzing, coordinating and communication with others.
  • Interpersonal skills and behaviors are requirements of this position.
