Colorado Man Convicted of Murdering Jewelry Store Owner During Robbery August 12, 2025 (0 comments)

Wheat Ridge, CO--A jury in Colorado has convicted Charles Robinson Shay of murdering jewelry store owner Peter Damian Arguello during a robbery in Wheat Ridge on November 29, 2023, CBS Colorado reported.

Police responded to the 7200 block of West 38th Avenue shortly after 11 a.m. that day following reports of gunfire. Witnesses told police Arguello died in the parking lot behind his business, Peter Damian Fine Jewelry & Antiques.

Shay was found guilty on 11 counts, including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, second-degree motor vehicle theft, second-degree arson, tampering with physical evidence, second-degree burglary, and a habitual criminal sentence enhancer.

Under Colorado law, a first-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole. Shay is scheduled for sentencing on September 10.

A second suspect, Michael McCormack, is set to stand trial on August 22 in connection with the shooting and robbery.
