Competition Predicts Platinum Trends April 03, 2011 (0 comments)
Basel, Switzerland—Baselworld 2011 was the scene for this year's Platinum Design Awards competition held by Platinum Guild International. 36 examples of leading platinum designs were featured at the 27 participating manufacturers’ booths, and were judged by more than 30 international journalists visiting the show.
The three design categories in the competition were men's jewelry, bridal jewelry, and trends. Each journalist voted for the piece that was, in their opinion, the best of each category. Winners were feted at a cocktail party held on Saturday evening, March 26, where each winner also received a special award, presented by Ruth Donaldson, PGI manger for the United Kingdom.
The winning pieces were:
Men's Jewelry: First place, "Free" by Philippe Tournaire (below), second place, "Scorpion" by Paolo Piovan, and third place, "The Emotional Compass" by TTF
