Peterborough, NH--The entrance to Hobbs Jewelers at 20 Depot Square, Peterborough, is a portal to an enchanting universe, thanks to the window displays that flank it. These displays are the canvas of Marjorie Hobbs, who has designed them for 59 years at this family-owned business.

According to a Ledger-Transcript report, Hobbs Jewelers, established by Marjorie and Paul Hobbs in 1964, has seen the couple multitasking, with Marjorie managing the bookkeeping, designing the displays, and doing "what needed to be done." Paul attended to jewelry repairs, engraving, and watch fixing.

Despite retiring over 20 years ago, Marjorie remains actively involved in the store. She still creates themed displays that change with the seasons and occasions. Marjorie explained, "February is Valentine's Day- and Mardi Gras-themed," explained Marjorie, as per the report. "In March comes St. Patrick's Day, and then of course there's Mother's Day, Father's Day and graduation."

Her passion for creating fresh displays remains undiminished. As her daughter, Jacquie Hobbs, stated, per the report, "No matter where she goes, she's shopping for a new prop." An example of her evolving displays is a rotating globe added for June's graduation theme, inspiring Marjorie to remark, "Students who just graduated have the whole world to explore!"

Marjorie's latest find is an eagle perched on the American flag from a Jaffrey thrift store. She carefully chooses each prop, creating a unique blend of jewelry and props that enhance each other. Her displays are a reflection of her creative vision. "I see what looks and feels right when I'm designing the window," she stated in the report.

She believes a compelling display can pique customers' interest. "If people see a nice window, I think they're more interested in stepping into the store," she said, per the report.

Marjorie appreciates fellow businesses like Dogs on Depot Square for their captivating window displays. At Hobbs Jewelers, the team engages with visitors, assisting them in finding the perfect item.

Each time Marjorie creates a new display, she carefully packs away the props, looking forward to the following year. "Some people like painting or writing," she said in the report. "This is my thing that I like to do. It's my artistic side coming out."
