According to a KTLA report, the footage reveals the intruders quickly vacating the vehicle, shattering display cases, and seizing items. An escalating situation arises when an employee, appearing from the store's rear, is assaulted with a chair by one of the thieves. The chaos ensues until the arrival of two additional employees, at which point the culprits flee, abandoning their vehicle.
According to La Verne Police — as stated in the report — the thieves had a black sedan prepared for their escape. Local resident George Bush, acquainted with the store owner, stated to KTLA that it was not the first time they’d been hit like this. "It’s just so blatant now… in the middle of the day," he shared in the report. "Someone’s got to put an end to it somehow, some way.”
The report noted that police reports indicate that the employee struck by the chair endured non-life-threatening injuries. La Verne, situated about 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, has been the backdrop for this audacious crime.
The La Verne Police Department is encouraging anyone possessing information to get in touch. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Crimestoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
