Disinger Jewelers Reopens With Former Employee As New Owner February 03, 2021 (0 comments)
Jasper, IN—While many jewelers have nobody to carry on their business, Bob and Jacque Disinger, former owners of Disinger Jewelers were one of the lucky ones to have a staff member ready and willing to take over.

The Dubois County Herald reports that longtime employee Teresa Heeke took over the 83-year-old business at the beginning of 2021 after the Disingers retired last November.
“I’ve always wanted to open my own business, and I’m very passionate about giving back to the community,” Heeke told the Herald. “This was just the perfect opportunity to carry on the tradition of Disinger Jewelers.” The business will donate a percentage of profits to a different charity each month and will continue to sponsor local organizations and events, says the Herald. (January’s charity was Habitat for Humanity of Dubois County.)
The business, which has two locations, hosted a grand opening celebration January 30. It is keeping much of the same profile—same hours and most of the same brands—but it is adding some new lines and an expanded custom design service with its two staff goldsmiths to serve customers asking for custom designs, wanting to design their own rings, or remodel heirloom jewelry.
Heeke considered the Disingers close friends and mentors and the affection was mutual.
“Teresa has proven to be of the utmost integrity and will make an excellent business owner,” Bob and Jacque Disinger said in a press release. “She has our full trust in carrying on the business and the traditions of Disinger Jewelers.”
