Employee Fires Shots at Suspect During an Armed Robbery Attempt in a Myrtle Beach Jewelry Store February 23, 2023 (0 comments)

Myrtle Beach, SC--An attempted armed robbery took place on the afternoon of February 17 at a jewelry store. According to a police report obtained by News13, a suspect named Michael James Alexander Perez entered Jacob the Jeweler on Hackler Street and demanded their Rolexes before being shot by a store employee.

The incident reportedly caused two bullet holes in a desk; nobody was seriously injured.

Perez allegedly dropped his gun and fled on a motorcycle driven by an unidentified person before being taken to the hospital for treatment. According to the report, the getaway driver left Perez at the hospital before fleeing the scene.

A nearby business provided News13 with surveillance video of a man dressed in mostly black and wearing at least one blue glove walking on the sidewalk with a motorcycle in the background. The timestamp on the video is 3:42 p.m., approximately an hour before the shooting was reported.

Surveillance video from another business showed the same man entering the jewelry store around 4:43 p.m. and leaving just 20 seconds later.

The police have not released any information about the person driving the motorcycle. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
