Miami, FL—Estelle Hedaya, the final victim to be found after the Champlain Towers South condo collapse, was memorialized in an article in the Palm Beach Post on last week. Image: Hedaya at Caesar's Palace during the CBG Show in June 2021.
Hedaya, 54, a beloved and much-mourned member of the jewelry industry, was the operations manager of the Continental Buying Group and Preferred Jewelers International. CBG/Preferred owners Joe Murphy and Andie Weinman had considered Hedaya as their successor in the future of the organization, while members of the industry prayed for her rescue and shared stories of both her outgoing personality and highly capable management skills. Hedaya joined CBG/Preferred six years ago, following a 30-year career in the industry, spanning both independent retail jewelers and jewelry manufacturing in New York City before relocating to Miami.
Her remains were found July 20, nearly a month after the June 24 collapse. Following her brother Ivey’s confirmation of her identity on July 26, she was laid to rest July 27 in her native Brooklyn following a packed funeral service at the Magen David Synagogue in Bensonhurst.
