Carlsbad, CA—GIA (Gemological Institute of America) announces the GIA Cultured Pearl Classification Report, an abbreviated report that provides classification information on unmodified cultured pearls and provides retailers and consumers convenient access to detailed information based on the GIA 7 Pearl Value Factors: size, shape, color, luster, surface, nacre and matching. In addition, this report will include a digital image of the submitted item(s).

Clients can submit their loose, mounted, or strung pearls, as well as those fixed in a design, for a GIA Cultured Pearl Classification Report. This report is exclusively for the three major types of cultured pearls: Akoya, South Sea, and Tahitian pearls.

If a pearl is found by GIA gemologists as being modified by treatment (except routine processes) or as not belonging to one of the accepted pearl types, the pearl service will automatically change to a pearl identification report.
