According to a post by the jeweler on Facebook, the process begins with layers of gold and nickel applied to a brass plate to prevent oxidation. A robotic airbrush then applies lacquer in a controlled atmosphere to ensure consistency.

The jeweler noted that the procedure results in unique shades exclusive to Rolex, reflecting techniques refined within the brand's workshops over time. The post highlighted that the method requires a high degree of in-house expertise to produce a flawless finish.

To deepen the context, Rolex itself explains that the gold and nickel electroplating serves as a corrosion-resistant base before lacquer application.

According to a horology publisher, WatchesBySJX, Rolex's dial-making facility then uses clean-room airbrushing to apply multiple lacquer layers, followed by a clear varnish coat that delivers the dial's signature lustre and depth.
